Wim Bors based his historically tainted road trip on the diaries ‘Belgium’ by the French author Victor Hugo. In letters written to his wife Hugo relays his journey along the coast of Belgium and northern France. Wim Bors followed the route that Hugo took so that he could discover if there were still any points of recognition in the landscape.

In 1990 the project ‘La Solitude’ followed. In associative follow-ups of recognisable visions, effect is given in a poetical, penetrating way to the existential phenomenon ‘solitude’. The art video ‘La Solitude’ is accompanied by a volume called ‘La Solitude’ with lithographs.
1988
With my first art video ‘Leo Ferré’ I tred in the footsteps of my earlier master and founder of the video art in The Netherlands: Livinus van der Bundt. The video ‘Leo Ferré chante’ shows an integration of Ferre chansons in the pastel drawings together with concert appearances of the singer.

In 1985 works of art developed for the first time using poetry as a starting point: the graphic album ‘Spiegeldans’ came about. In 1986 I met Leo Ferré. I was inspired by his lyrics and music. The singer was most enthousiastic and in close consultation with me when I put together two graphic albums : ‘Un concert d’elogés’ and ‘Choix de Ferré’ (1987)

In the beginning I did mainly graphic work: lithographs and screen printing. At recurring times I worked for long periods in France. As as result I developed a strong bond with this country. And this bond only became stronger when I moved to Het Bildt in 1975, an area in the north of Friesland. The national character and the grandiosity of the landscape formed a great inspiration for my work.
